Pardus is a young enterprise that offers advanced groupware servers on an open source basis. The company is located in Hamburg, Germany and has been founded in 2005 by the Linux specialist and open source programmer Dr. Gunnar Wrobel.

Free software and the cooperative process that drives open source development is our inspiration. As a company we provide our Know-How in the area of e-mail services and groupware to make open source products usable for our customers. Any new experience that we gain and all feedback received from our customers is being fed back into improving the free software products we use. Any such changes will be again made available to the open source community.

We are focusing on the area of business communication, primarily e-mail.

We are able to offer our customers a central communication platform that allows to efficiently handle common organizational needs within small enterprises. Our servers do not only allow you to handle a single such company but enables you to handle several different domains/companies at the same time.

We concentrate on our core competence and offer you an optimally configured system. Since the system is purely Internet based it is not necessary to install any hardware at the customer site. This also allows us to react extremely fast in case of problems and saves you money.

As a company that is fully subscribed to the ideas of open source software we are also involved in improving the central components (Gentoo, Kolab) we use. This on the other hand guarantees you that we have a very high expertise concerning these systems.

Pardus uses the free operating system Linux that provides a significantly safer alternative to standard systems. Especially in the area of communications this is a big advantage.

The Linux variant we are using is Gentoo-Linux since the founder of the company is an active developer for that system. The advantage of Gentoo-Linux is the ease with which the distribution can be modified and tweaked to fit our specific needs.

The solution for the communication server that is running on top of Gentoo is a modified Kolab version. Kolab is one of the most advanced open source groupware solutions that is available and is extremely well designed.

We offer our solutions for distributors that wish to integrate the server into their own product list. Since each server allows to handle several different domains a distributor can easily provide an efficient groupware solution to several small companies using a single server.

This way our partners can concentrate on their own core competence and combine the groupware offer with their own services.
